Nearly 8500 pounds come to leave for Iraq
On the way for Baghdad
A telephone call hardly forty-eight hours before the passage of the truck. Just time, for Sylvyane Husin, president of association Readers of Baghdad (1), to beat the recall in order to load the 155 paperboards of books which waited since last August, gracefully stored in the buildings of the town hall.
They finally will be able to join their destination. Structures, encyclopaedias, tests philosophical, historical, but so Romance offered by private individuals, editors, writers, libraries academic and secondary road, the museum of the Louvre, the media library of the Small rock or the Institute of the Arab world; some 8 500 works which are awaited in May with the central library of Baghdad, Mosul and Mustasiria.
The Division of the writing and Association for the diffusion of the French thought, two services of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, were occupied of the freighting of the container sealed before its departure of Benon and its transport, via Le Havre and Aqaba, to Baghdad.
After the school material. Jabbar Yassin Hussin, Italian-French writer and member of honor of the Readers of Baghdad, are finally satisfied: "We could have organized the voyage ourselves, as we already did for the school material that we sent last year. But it was very important for the image even of France in Iraq which it engages directly in the delivery of these works liberally offered by the French. That just took a little more time than envisaged "
It is in January 2004 than Jabbar Yassin Hussin launched a call on the waves and in the press to support the francophonie in Iraq. The books, indexed, sorted and packed up, were ready since August. But the delay will have had a positive aspect, since a few hundreds of works came, meanwhile, to weigh down the convoy.
